Dorothy

Dorothy is a Research Assistant in the Department of Psychological Medicine, Institute of Psychology, Psychiatry and Neuroscience. She holds a BSc in Psychology from the University of Bath and an MSc in Global Mental Health from the University of Edinburgh.

Dorothy is experienced in participatory qualitative research and engagement methods with racially and ethnically minoritised groups. Prior to joining King’s, her most recent Research Assistant posting centred on the development and production of the ‘Malawi Maternal Mental Health Manual’, on which she is a lead editor. The manual is a practical guide to delivering comprehensive, compassionate and empowering maternal mental healthcare in Malawi. Dorothy also has various third-sector experience, including supporting young people and adults who hear voices in both community and detained settings, as well as clinical experience as an Assistant Psychologist in an NHS complex trauma clinic.

Dorothy is passionate about promoting community-based mental healthcare for marginalised groups, particularly in low-resource settings. Dorothy joined King’s College London in January 2024 to work in the ESRC Centre for Society and Mental Health on the CONtributions of social NETworks to Community Thriving (CONNECT) study. Since joining CONNECT, Dorothy has led on research and community engagement, conducting interviews and facilitating Photovoice workshops with racially and/or ethnically minoritised people in South East London.
